Microneedling Treatment Consent Form

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure using a device with fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-punctures stimulate the body’s natural healing process, promoting collagen and elastin production for firmer, smoother, and more radiant skin.

Benefits May Include:

  • Improved skin tone and texture
  • Diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced acne scars and stretch marks
  • Smaller pores
  • Enhanced skin firmness and glow

Before Your Treatment

To ensure optimal results and safety, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Avoid anti-coagulants or blood-thinning medications and supplements 4 days before (consult your doctor first if you’re on prescription medication).
  • Do NOT have new permanent makeup or injectables in or near the treatment area for at least 2 weeks prior.
  • Use daily sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Sunburnt or compromised skin cannot be treated.
  • Avoid products with Hydroquinone, bleaching agents, Retin-A, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, or astringents for at least 3 days before treatment.
  • Inform your provider of any prescription skin products you are currently using.
  • Do NOT pluck or wax the area for at least 1 week before treatment. Avoid bleach or depilatory products like Nair for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.

What to Expect During the Procedure

  • Skin will be thoroughly cleansed.
  • A topical numbing agent may be applied.
  • The microneedling device is moved across the treatment area, creating micro-injuries.
  • You may feel mild tingling, pressure, or vibration.
  • The procedure takes 30–60 minutes depending on the area.
  • Redness and sensitivity may follow for 24–72 hours, similar to a mild sunburn.

After Your Treatment

Proper aftercare is essential to your skin’s healing:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning, and self-tanning sprays for 48 hours post-treatment.
  • Use daily sunscreen with SPF 30+, preferably with zinc oxide.
  • Avoid strenuous activities, hot showers, saunas, and swimming in chlorinated or salt water for 48 hours.
  • Avoid Hydroquinone, bleaching creams, Retin-A, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, and other harsh products for 5–7 days.
  • Do NOT undergo further treatments (laser, IPL, peels, Botox, fillers) for at least 2 weeks post-treatment.
  • Do NOT wax, pluck, or bleach the treated area for at least 1–2 weeks post-treatment.
  • You MAY apply light makeup after 24–48 hours using clean brushes/sponges to avoid infection.
