Dermaplanning Consent Form

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive, manual exfoliation treatment that removes dead skin cells from the epidermis using a sterile, surgical-grade blade. This treatment also temporarily removes vellus hair (commonly known as “peach fuzz”), leaving the skin smooth and radiant. Unlike microdermabrasion, dermaplaning does not involve suction or abrasive crystals.

The removal of surface debris and dead skin cells can enhance the efficacy of skincare products and allow for better absorption. It also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, minor breakouts, and uneven skin tone. Dermaplaning is particularly suitable for clients with sensitive skin or those with contraindications to microdermabrasion or chemical exfoliants.

Please note: Due to facial contours, certain areas (e.g., eyelids and nose) are not treated during this procedure.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

  • A skin analysis will be conducted prior to beginning your treatment.
  • If dermaplaning is not appropriate, an alternative treatment may be recommended.
  • Visible improvement is often seen immediately, though best results occur with regular sessions and proper home care.
  • You may experience temporary redness or sensitivity post-treatment, which typically resolves within 2–3 hours.
  • Minor abrasions may occur but are rare. Please notify your esthetician if irritation persists.
  • Excessive dryness or mild peeling between sessions may occur and is generally normal.
  • SPF 30+ sunscreen is mandatory post-treatment and should be worn daily. Tanning beds must be avoided.
  • Commitment to a daily skincare regimen is essential for optimal results.

Is Satisfaction Guaranteed?

While many clients report noticeable and satisfying results, individual outcomes may vary. Factors such as age, sun exposure, skin condition, lifestyle, and adherence to recommended protocols significantly influence results. Long-term age management programs may be recommended for ongoing maintenance.
